It is I, Wendy… First lady of the West End! Welcome to the first of my official weekly blogs…. Rounding up all the goings on ’neath the bright lights of Theatreland!
Firstly… a HUGE spanking THANKYOU to everyone who attended the first West End Wednesday last Wednesday night! I think its fair to say that Wendy’s huge opening was a big hit! Handsome Latino waiters, a break-dancing dance off and flowing cocktails… it really did feel like being back at Break for the Border, didn’t it my loves? It was great to see so many lovely West-End faces there aswell… The Dirty Dancing cast were dancing dirty, the Mamma Mia ladies all scrubbed up a treat and was that Fame’s Desi Valentine I spied grinding his hot bootie on my dance floor?? Maybe it was…. Some shows were sadly unrepresented, and I hope that they will be able to come down and join me this Wednesday for more fun and fecundity! Also my babies, look out for some up and coming theme nights down at the Costa Dorada. Wendy knows you all love to dress up, so watch this space!
Now then… this week’s gossip. I donned a beautiful frock this week to attend the European Prem of The Lord of the Rings, at the sacred hallows of the Drury Lane. My goodness darlings, that theatre was HOT! And, having forgotten my Japanese kabuki

fan, I was forced to cool my brow by frantically waving my programme back and forth like some sort of over-eager auction-goer!! However, the temperature did not distract from my overall enjoyment of the piece. Its visual ’set-pieces’ are breathtaking and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. (And I’ve seen EVERYTHING!) For unseasoned hobbit-followers I do think the story may be a little confusious and tricky to follow, and for me I didn’t feel like the show has a stand out tune, but a certainly a stand out performance came from the ‘practically perfect’ Laura Michelle Kelly as The Golden Lady ‘Galadriel’. Yes, the only thing in the show that is higher than LMK’s angel-like soaring voice is the pair of delicious golden platform-shoes she wears! Brava dear lady, Brava!
Thursday night saw the mid’knight’ matinee of Spamalot down at the Palace. The entire cast were on fine form to entertain their West End colleagues in the late night one-off, and a couple of ‘in-house’ jokes went down a storm. Some of Wendy’s spies inform her that a small, elite little party was held in The Lady of the Lake’s dressing room post show, and a veritable lake of alcohol was consumed! Such decadence!! Well done my dears… Wendy is proud of you!!!
So my darlings that’s all for now. What a busy week its been. I am off to recharge my glamour-batteries in the South of France for the weekend, but fear ye not…. My spies will be on patrol in my absence. Remember: Wendy sees all. And she hopes to see you all again on Wednesday night for West End Wednesday!
Chookas dearies!
